Watch Strap Size Chart and Measuring Instructions
Step 1: Measure Lug Width
- Using a ruler or caliper, measure the width of the space between the lugs of your watch where the strap will attach. This measurement will determine the lug width.
Step 2: Measure Wrist Size
- Wrap a flexible measuring tape or string snugly around your wrist, just below the wrist bone.
- Note the measurement in inches or centimeters.
Step 3: Determine Strap Length
- Measure the distance between the lug ends of your watch to determine the ideal strap length. This measurement should correspond to your wrist size and desired fit.
- For a comfortable fit, add 1,5 to 2 inches (3.5 to 5 centimeters) to your wrist size measurement.

Tapered sizes:
Tapered size refers to a gradual reduction in watch strap width from one end to the other. In the context of watch straps, a tapered design typically features a wider width near the lug attachment point of the watch and gradually narrows towards the buckle or clasp end. This tapered shape not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the strap but also offers a comfortable fit, ensuring it conforms smoothly to the wrist. The Highland Brown Tweed watch strap is made from authentic HARRIS TWEED®, woven in Scotland from 100% virgin wool using traditional methods. The warm brown base with subtle light accents reflects classic Highland tweed tones and is created during the weaving process itself, not printed. This gives the fabric real depth and a natural three-dimensional texture.
Harris Tweed is valued not only for its appearance but also for its practical properties. Wool is one of the best natural insulators, offering effective thermal regulation. In colder seasons such as autumn and winter, a tweed strap feels noticeably warmer on the wrist than a steel bracelet, which quickly becomes cold, or silicone straps that can stiffen in low temperatures. At the same time, wool remains breathable, making the strap comfortable for extended daily wear.
Tweed is naturally soft and adapts to the shape of the wrist faster than thick leather. With regular use, the fabric develops a subtle “memory,” settling into a comfortable fit while maintaining its structure.
Durability is a defining characteristic of Harris Tweed. The wool fibers are dyed before spinning, resulting in deep, rich color that does not fade over time. This is a material designed to last for decades rather than seasons. In addition, wool contains natural lanolin, which provides light water resistance. The strap easily handles rain and everyday splashes. While it is not intended for swimming or diving, it is well suited to damp and changing climates.
